The low electrical conductivity of Titan's lower atmosphere
نویسندگان
چکیده
Titan's near-surface atmosphere, with a relatively high density and weak ion production by cosmic rays or other sources, likely has lower electrical conductivity than the Earth's, possibly <1 fS/m. Direct measurements Relaxation Probe on Huygens constrain it to be <0.5 pS/m, extrapolation from higher altitudes suggests orders of magnitude this. We investigate why several published models indicate much conductivity: appears that aerosol removal electrons may have been underestimated, photoelectron emission aerosols overestimated. propose simple analytic description negative profile form Log10(?) = A + B*z*exp(?[z/C]^D) -15, B 0.15, C 100 km, D 1.5 where z is altitude (0–150 km) ? ion/electron in S/m. Some local enhancement at surface occur due radiocarbon recent deposits, significant perturbation result radioisotope power source Dragonfly rotorcraft lander. consider, cannot dismiss completely, hypothesis material measured probe, its sudden reduction 11 min after landing, associated wind change altering abundance nearby ions produced radiation probe's Radioisotope Heater Units.

متن کاملElectrical Conductivity of the Neutron Star Crust at Low Temperatures
The electrical conductivity of the neutron star crust at low temperatures is calculated by taking into account the mixing of the electron wave functions due to the interaction with the crystal lattice of atomic nuclei. We show that the previously existed model of exponential reduction of the electron–ion scattering rate can lead to an overestimation of the electrical conductivity by several ord...

This experimental investigation was carried out in order to determine the electrical characteristics of several hydrocarbons of low dielectric constant. All measurements of the conduc ivity were below 1 picomho/m (u.10A/V-m 10-14 ohm'lcml). This category ncludes most petroleum products, petroleum distillates made conductive by adding anti-static additives, and liquified gases. Of particular int...
متن کاملEffect of Strontium Dopant on Electrical Conductivity of Perovskites
The compounds, lanthanium chromite, lanthanium magnetite and lanthanium ferric oxide were prepared through sol-gel methods in powdered form, then calcinated, peletized, and sintered at various temperatures. Electrical conductivity of these compounds was measured at various temperatures. The effectiveness of strontium as a dopant on electrical conductivity was also investigated. Electrical condu...
